bio blitz tuatapere

Kia ora

We can’t wait to host locals and community groups as they explore Tuatapere on 28 February 2024.

Haven’t heard of Bioblitz before? It is a scientific race against time to count as many different species in the area as possible.

Learn more about the rich diversity of organisms (the birds, bats, insects, spiders, fish and fungi) that live in Tuatapere area.

From dawn people can begin recording observations from wherever they are. Organised group activities will start at Waiau Area School from 9am and run through to 3pm.

At 7pm, on the Domain there will be an update of observations so far and evening activities including bat spotting, a spider search and moth trapping will begin from 8pm.

Participants should bring their own food and water for the day. A sausage sizzle will be provided from 7pm for participants.

If you have any further questions contact biodiversity officer Catriona Gower on 021 400 843 or catriona.gower@es.govt.nz.
